Should You Offer Free Massage?

23 Jul Should You Offer Free Massage?

If you are trying to attract new customers and expand your massage business, giving away your services for free may sound crazy. However, offering free massages the right way can actually bring you new clients! Although when offering free services you are going to attract people that are just looking for that one-time freebie, you are also going to find potential clients that are on the hunt for a massage therapist they love. Wow them during their free session and watch your practice grow!

If you think about it, companies and businesses have been giving away free samples and trials of products and services for a very long time, and for good reason. Who wouldn’t want to try something out before committing to an investment? It not only gives the potential customers the option to test out the product or service they are interested in, but it also gives you a chance to start a relationship with your potential client base before they even become clients! They will come for the free massage, and stay for the awesome service and amazing massage therapist.

If you are going to start offering free services to attract new customers, you have to make sure you have a strategy in mind. Your time and your services are crucial to the longevity of your success and can make or break your business; you probably don’t want to just give away your services for free left and right with no gain. Offer complimentary massages to the community, but give them the option to upgrade the service for a discounted fee. For example, if you decide to give free 30 minute massage sessions, give the clients the option to extend the service to 60 or 90 minutes for a discounted rate. Or, offer them a coupon for the next time they schedule a massage with you. This way, you will be making money through your “free” massages, and your potential clients will get to experience even more of your skills, making them want to come back! The more time you have with the client to get a thorough consultation, give an amazing massage, and discuss your findings and the importance of making massage a regular part of their routine, the more likely those people will become a lasting part of your client base.

Remember, always include an expiration date to cash in the complimentary massage or any coupons. This will get those prospective clients actually calling and making reservations, rather than letting the offer sit around for an unlimited amount of time.

Exposure is key when you are trying to run a business, and offering a sample of your services is an excellent way to bring attention to your business and get people in the door. Even if they don’t schedule another appointment with you, they may refer your name to their friends and family – free advertising! It’s a win-win situation for everyone, and you will see the outcome through your growing business.
