How Long is Massage Therapy School in Colorado?

Most massage therapy licensure programs in Colorado take about 6 to 12 months to complete, depending on whether you attend full-time or part-time.

As of July 1st, 2024, Colorado requires students to complete a minimum of 650 hours of comprehensive training from a state-approved massage therapy program.

What Affects the Timeline?

The length of the massage program depends on the schedule type and program structure.

  • Full-time programs can typically be completed in 6-7 months
  • Part-time programs may take 10-12 months

Some schools offer flexible evening or weekend tracks or additional options like internships to complete your Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) program.

Regardless of the format, all students are required to complete the 650 hours of training, including both classroom and  clinical work.

At DIMS, our 650-hour massage program is intentionally designed for ultimate flexibility. You can complete it in as little as 6 months – or take up to 18 months – depending on what works best for your schedule and life.

What Happens After Graduation?

Once you complete the program, you’ll need to:

  • Take the MBLEx exam (Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam)
  • Apply for licensure through DORA (Colorado’s Department of Regulatory Agencies)
  • Submit a fingerprint background check
  • Obtain professional liability insurance, which is required by Colorado law

Most graduates are ready to apply for their license within a few weeks of finishing school.
